Installation of the U24 XL driver under Windows
Introduction
The U24 XL driver can be used under Windows XP, Vista and 7/8, both in 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Depending on the OS version, the installation procedure is slightly different. The following text first explains the installation under Windows Vista and Windows 7/8, followed by the installation under Windows XP, each in a different section. Please only check the corresponding section for your operating system. There are also videos for each system at the end of the article.
Installation under Windows Vista and Windows 7/8
Before the actual installation, download and unzip the driver file. Make sure that U24 XL is not connected to your computer before you install the driver. Then launch setup.exe from the unzipped folder. When launching the installation, Windows Vista or Windows 7/8 might prompt a security message. Make sure to allow the installation. You will then see a dialog as shown on the following picture.
Click Next. You can define the target directory for the installation in the following dialog.
Confirm it with Next. The installer now informs you that the driver installation will start as shown below.
Confirm this with Next. During the following process you will see a Windows Security dialog box that asks you for confirmation to install the driver software that looks like this:
Confirm any such dialog with Install even if it gets displayed multiple times. You will then be prompted to connect the hardware in the dialog shown below.
Plug in U24 XL but do not click OK yet. Instead, wait a few seconds for the automatic device driver installation. You can monitor this in the task notification area where Windows Vista or Windows 7/8 usually informs that the driver is installed via a bubble message box.
Once Windows shows no further messages, the installation is finished and you can start using U24 XL in your applications.
Installation under Windows XP
Before the actual installation, download and unzip the driver file. Make sure that U24 XL is not connected to your computer before you install the driver. Then launch setup.exe from the unzipped folder. You will then see a dialog as shown on the following picture.
Click Next. You can define the target directory for the installation in the following dialog.
Confirm it with Next. The installer now informs you that the driver installation will start as shown below.
Confirm this with Next. During the following process you will see a Software Installation dialog box that asks you for confirmation to install the driver software that looks like this:
Confirm any such dialog with Continue Anyway even if it gets displayed multiple times. You will then be prompted to connect the hardware in the dialog shown below.
Plug in U24 XL but do not click OK yet. Instead, wait a few seconds for the automatic device driver installation. During the actual driver installation, you will see the following Hardware Installation dialog box:
Confirm any such dialog with Continue Anyway even if it gets displayed multiple times. Once Windows shows no further messages, the installation is finished and you can start using U24 XL in your applications.
