What is the pin layout of the TRS MIDI output of Xjam?
For the 3.5mm TRS MIDI output port of Xjam, we are following the official standard from the MIDI Association:
The tip of the TRS port connects to pin 5 of the DIN port, the ring of the TRS port connects to pin 4 of the DIN port and the sleeve of the TRS port connects to pin 2 of the DIN port.
Sometimes such adapter cables are referred to as "Type A". When odering a TRS to DIN MIDI-Adapter, please double check this as there is also another less common pin layout used by some manufacturers, which is sometimes referred to as "Type B".
If you are unsure, print out this page and show it at your local shop or to someone that could build an adapter cable for you.
