Running Windows on a Mac (Boot Camp)
Unlike using a virtualization solution (such as Parallels or VMware Fusion), Boot Camp is a nice way to run Windows natively on any Intel based Mac. There are no serious issues related to that and in most cases you can simply use our products like on any standard PC system.
Does ESI offer technical support for Windows installations on Boot Camp?
Yes! In order to make sure that everything works well, double check all of the following:
- Make sure to follow the instructions on how to setup Boot Camp from Mac OS X exactly. Avoid using third party utilities that might alter your system.
- Always install the Boot Camp drivers for your particular Mac model. This is normally done by inserting the Mac OS X installation DVD and launching the installer from there. Different Mac models have different Boot Camp drivers.
- Only after that install the driver & software for the ESI device you intend to use.
- In some cases the Apple utility kbdmgr.exe can cause performance issue, especially with USB audio. This utility controls the touch pad and other keyboard commands on certain MacBook models. To disable it, go to Start > Run, enter msconfig and press enter, go to Startup and disable the checkbox in front of kbdmgr. Save the settings and reboot your computer. To enable it later again, you can use the same procedure.
