Can I use Dr. DAC prime standalone without computer?

Yes! Dr. DAC prime is designed to be used standalone. For standalone operation, Dr. DAC prime must be connected to an external power supply and no USB connection is required.

It works as a high performance headphone amplifier when the SOURCE switch on the front panel is set to ANALOG. In this mode, all analog input signals from the RCA line input on the backside is sent out via the 1/4" and 1/8" headphone outputs on the front panel with adjustable gain.

It also works as a high performance digital-to-analog converter and headphone amplifier simultaneously for digital signals when the SOURCE switch on the front panel is set to DIGITAL. In this mode, the S/PDIF input signal from either the coaxial RCA input or the optical miniplug input on the backside is sent out via the 1/4" and 1/8" headphone outputs on the front panel with adjustable gain and also as a line signal via the RCA outputs on the backside. In this mode, the digital signal is also re-routed and sent out again via the coaxial RCA output and the optical miniplug outout on the backside, which means that Dr. DAC prime can also convert optical S/PDIF into coaxial S/PDIF (and the other way round).

And of course it works as a USB audio interface (with SOURCE set to USB) on a PC or Mac (which would be considered non-standalone operation).
